In the Freud Archives

This book is the narrative of an unlikely, tragic/comic encounter among three men: K.R. Eissler, a brilliant, venerable psychoanalyst and scholar of psychoanalysis; Jeffrey Moussaieff Masson, a flamboyant, restless 42-year-old Sanskrit scholar turned psychoanalyst turned virulent anti-Freudian; and Peter Swales, a mysterious, mischievous 35-year-old former assistant to the Rolling Stones and self-taught Freud scholar. The early history of psychoanalysis is the background against which the Oedipal drama between the dozen of psychoanalysis and the two younger men is played out. "An extraordinary story."
