The book containes 13 colour prints, 88 plates of Sumatra, 293 plates of JAVA and 124 plates of BALI. The works published by Tosari Studios were well known for the sharp quality and matte monochrome colours.

K.T. Satake was a Japanese Photographer who worked in the Dutch East-Indies (modern Indonesia) for Tosari Studios near Mount Bromo, Java. Satake photographed extensively across Sumatra, Java, and Bali during the 1930s. In 1935, he released the book “Camera-Beelden van Sumatra, Java, and Bali” (Camera Pictures from Sumatra, Java, and Bali). Printed in 1935, jointly published between Surabaya and London, and bilingually produced in Dutch and English.
