[Blank] and Willem. Documentation of youth

"A cloud of dark knowledge" is the English-language edition of Wim Nijenhuis's doctoral dissertation. His investigation focuses on combining architectural, urban design and historical urban design texts with philosophical texts, with the intention of changing our perspective on cities and urban design. In an enormous extra-disciplinary gesture, the publication carries the reader along a wondrous world of the streets, engineers, norms, forums, growth, regulations, city limits, suburbs and speed. This publication reveals developments in the Dutch perception of urban design and architecture that characterized the Netherlands in the 1980s and 1990s, whereby the author develops instruments that can influence contemporary thinking about architecture and urban design.
